Novel Reverse Osmosis System

This is a system developed by some students from Glasgow University. In it's present form it needs to be pulled by hand overland BUT I think a frame could easily be made that would allow it to be hung off the transom and have it turned by a paddle wheel. I've written to them suggesting that there may be a side market for cruising yacht people needing a reverse osmosis plant. Any profits could be ploughed back into the primary aim of bringing clean water to the places where is just does not exist.

Would anyone like to comment on it's feasibility?

Looks like it is a freshwater RO like you put under your sink. Won't work for sea water. See other threads, but freshwater RO needs around 80 psig, sea water 800 psig.

Just not any marine awards. We are at the end of the day about marine applications. Lots of cool new stuff happens everyday but it's not all about the topics here. Sea water aqueous salts are removed at near the molecular level. It is not harder than that.

I agree with cal40john, not particularly suitable for salt water. There is a huge differance between 80 psi and 800 psi.
There already is the tow behind the boat system, so I don't see anything revolutionary about this device.
So much for awards?
