FP Osmosis - Comments?

i was really starting to lean toward the FP line (40-42 feet) when i came across a couple who sued FP for osmosis problems (they lost)...i can't remember where i saw the article, but it was a live-aboard couple in the Med, with two children and he was a musician...

anyhoo...was wondering about the FP line and osmosis/blister/general fibreglas problems...

comments/experiences please?

thank you

Osmosis

Have not heard of any issues related to osmosis, however I have experienced small blisteres in the cocpit sole of my Belize. Also some minor airpockets under the gelcoat causing cracked gelcoat.

Believe this could be contributed by intricate shapes, with the use of vacuum moulding this should proably not be an issue.

I would generally say that the build quality of my Belize and the Athena prior has been up to my expectations. I have some other issues not related to your issue raised here, but they are still a nuicance but not unique to the FP range.

If you consider a cat for your next boat I would surtainly have the FP range on the shortlist based on the general good sailing capability and other clever solutions.

Good hunting!

Happy lead free sailing!

I think this has been done to death.

Do a search on Lavezzi and you will find plenty of discussion.

In summary, a few Lavezzi's had osmosis. Seems it may have been a particular batch of resin.

It is not an endemic FP problem.

Buy FP with confidence in the boat.

Of course always beware of particular salesmen

Thanx, DtM

i have done the research on line...the Internet is full of iffy stuff, you never know who posted legit, or who's got a bug up his a__ at any particular moment and flames out...

However, this site and forum seems to be straight ahead and lots of legit knowledge here.

i still welcome input and comments...

btw, DtM...want to let me know which salesmen?
