2-3 fingers of Drambui with just a dribble of water to kill the heat. Sleep like a baby!

Re: Favorite cocktail

I LOVE Mudslides, or Purple Hooters as a sundowner on a nice summer day.

Mudslide: Equal parts blended with ice to a frothy, ahem, mud.

Vodka
Kahlua
Baileys
Cream

Purple Hooter:

1/3 Pineapple juice
1/3 glass Vodka
1/3 glass Chamboard Liquer

Re: Favorite cocktail

This time of year, I like a ice cold beer, and shot of rum on ice, with a little lime.

I can do the "muddy" drinks for a desert except this one. I have heard it called Moose Milk or Dirty White MF.

2 parts scotch - I usually use Chivas, Black Label or Double Black
1 part Baileys
Ice
Milk to top off

My main drink is White Rum and soda. I drink way too much white rum and soda...

Re: Favorite Cocktail

Never mind pastis - Absinthe is it for me, and my favorite so far is Pacifique with a single lump or sometimes no sugar at all.

Re: Favorite Cocktail

No idea why I am particularly fond of it, but I rather like, when I choose to partake, the old 18th century recipe of one oz. of strong rum 2 oz if not so strong, the juice of one lime, 4 oz of water, and one oz of raw sugar.

Sounds rather like the old Victorian-era B&S (Brandy and Soda).

Re: Favorite Cocktail

Ahoy there mateys! Pull up a bollard! Now that the time has come to cease festering and join the company, this seemed a good place to drop the first post. If The Lord ever permits me to build and sail my dream boat, I'd love to see some CF'ers aboard to help put a few splices in that ever-parting mainbrace. 1. Pink Gin (personal favourite variation is Bombay Sapphire with Angostura and Schweppes Indian Tonic) Pink Gin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 2. Pusser's Rum, unadulterated 3. Bundaberg Black Rum, likewise unadulterated 4. Single Malt, such as Talisker. Mmmmm, Talisker (drool...) 5. Barrel proof bourbon of the better kind, such as JD, again, in virginal state. 6. Beer of some description, with the pick of the Belgian or German varieties top of the list...sadly, most Aussie and Yankee brews much further down, but still ahead of stale bilgewater or vintage squid ink.

Re: Favorite Cocktail

I had a Dark and Stormy the other night (well three actually). An interesting drink. I think they are often just a dark rum over ice with ginger beer and a slice of lime but these ones also had crushed mint in the glass.

Re: Favorite Cocktail

We tried an old and strange drink the other night, the boxcar.

Gin
Lemon juice
Grenadine (we ended up omitting this)
Simple Syrup
Egg whites

Yes, egg whites. When you shake it up it adds a light froth to the top of the drink. It was amazingly refreshing, which was not something I was expecting.

Not saying this is for everyone but it was notable and drew a lot of attention.
