Total $ US 66,5 ( say no more.....and that is the low it can easy get higher.......)

I have used the beer index myself to compare costs in different parts of the US. I use the cost of a pint of locally produced microdraft- it adds the cost of production labor and materials to the overhead cost of the bar.

The highest was $6.00 for a pint in Newport Beach, Ca and the lowest was $2.00 in St Mary's, Georgia. Those ratios seem pretty realistic.

If going local, you wouldn't buy or eat the things you get at home that would attract a premium price, you would go the local version that would be a fraction of the price.

So often in other lands I see the struggling expat wanting to eat German, Italian, Australian etc etc type foods at 10, 20, 30 times more in cost when compared to the same quantity of the local fare.

This is so true. My husband enjoys pancakes for breakfast. Easy enough to make from scratch. Except that maple or maple flavored pancake syrup seems to be strictly an American item. We looked for maple flavored pancake syrup in Turkey, Greece and Cyprus and never found any or even anything remotely similar to use as a substitute. Found 50 kinds of honey, but no maple syrup. My husband hates honey.

Finally found an 8-ounce bottle of maple flavored syrup on the southern Greek side of Cyprus last month (not the real maple kind, but at least it was maple flavored). A quick mental conversion calculation of Euro to USD proved that this little bottle of pancake syrup would cost $18 USD.

Needless to say, I did not buy it. Instead, I substitute cooked sliced apples with a touch of cinnamon to top his pancakes instead of maple syrup.

Breakfast on the Turkish side of Cyprus is typically a boiled egg and selection of white salty cheeses and olives, accompanied by fresh sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. That type breakfast is inexpensive and is quite tasty. But if you want the typical American breakfast of cold cereals or pancakes with syrup, that breakfast will be much more expensive. That 'taste of home' always costs more when in foreign locations.

8) Chicken breast (whole bone in) .99 lb
9) Beer 18 count 16 oz cans $10.00

I don't know where these European prices are from. But I was in Ireland 4weeks ago and taking Tesco pricing

Diesel 7.60 euros
Petrol 6 euros
4 litre milk. 2.20
Kilo of ordinary minced beef 4 euros
Kilo of potatoes 89 cents
Loaf of bread 90 cents
Dozen eggs ( medium) 1.95

Total. 28. 50 us dollars.

And I know its not the cheapest country though dairy and meat are cheap.

For example, you would need at least Php523,086 (C$12,322) in Vancouver to maintain the same standard of life that you can have with Php300,000 in Manila.

The problem with the OP’s study is that it is quite subjective based on the quality of Fuel, Bread, Meat etc…. you are comparing.

Also, prices are very much affected by the level of competition.

If you but a luxury car (Lexus) or even a boat part in the Philippines, where there is only one dealer…. You can pay up to 100% more than US

The thread is meant to be simply based on what you can buy in the area where you are currently anchored or moored.
Yachties of all people usually rout out the cheapest deals in a short amount of time and it's that info that gives us an idea of basic cost for that port/area competition taken into account.
As far as quality of what you are comparing i would think it logically would go like this:- Diesel - what ever your yanmar/volvo etc will run on. Petrol -Whatever your dinghy will use. MilkDrinkable from a bottle/carton ie fresh. BreadCheapest basic 700gr loaf. Minced Beef The cheapest ground or minced beef. Potatoes Fresh. Eggs Fresh.
If there is no competition in your area of course the price will be high and thats the purpose of the thread... It is an Indicator of the COST of living....
