Not sure either, yacht has’nt dragged lately. I’m heading north for a three week sail and will be anchoring over the weekend. Will see if I can test it out, but we maybe out of cellular coverage.

To be alerted to a dragging anchor when fast asleep in one's boat is a wonderful thing. A hard-wired alert can enable one to take instant action to avoid disaster.

Has anyone ever been wirelessly alerted to a dragging anchor when away from their boat, and managed to get back to her in time to do something useful about it?

I like Anchor Pro. Use 2 cell phones and the program will notify me via Telegram if the alarm goes off. Can also send a request for an update that will tell me direction and distance to the anchor setting position. Also will show on a map.


Many cell phones time out the GPS and program so I have found I need to leave the phone plugged in and open to the page with the app. Only need to pay the $15(?) once for the pro version (to get the cell notification feature) and can load on multiple devices.

The time out is due to later versions of Android that have "improved" power saving features. Get hold of an old tablet or phone with Android 6 or lower and it will run fine. I use an old Samsung Tablet with Android 4 pretty much exclusively as the anchor alarm device (and bedtime reader, 'cause it lives in the sleeping quarters) and it runs fine.
