New to the sailing world

Hello soon to be great friends,
Saying I am new to the sailing world is a bit of an understatement. I have never sailed. But I have the wife convinced that we should retire to a sailboat, in about 10-12 years of course. Right now I am researching boat, and looking to purchase a small sailboat to start learning on, say 30'. Nothing fancy, just something to start getting my feet wet. Also I am looking for folks in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia that take there boat out regularly and could use a little help. I am talking about day cruises or maybe a weekend at most, after we learn to like each other. I have had power boats, and I was in the Navy for 12 years, so I know a little seamanship, but i am really looking to learn the fine art of sailing, it has been fascinating to me since I was very young.

Well I am just rambling on, so I will stop for now, just wanted to say hello, and have a great day.

Ron

Welcome Bennington! It's a very good site, and I think there's a ton of people in your area on CF. Good luck!
