New guy

Hi everyone, my name is Paul. I am getting ready to buy my 1st boat and seem to be having a tough time getting a slip in Charleston SC. They don't rent to liveaboard's so I am trying to find a marina that will sell me one and even that is proving difficult. Is it a problem for anyone else? Is it like this every where? Either way we will figure it out and move forward. PS. If you are in Charleston and need help with your boat let me know

Re: New guy

Welcome to the forum. I know since I have been boating, it's been getting tougher and tougher to find liveaboard marinas. Some say city or state ordinance has imposed liveaboard quotas, while others say it is an insurance liability. I know homelessness has always put pressure on marinas as people are looking for cheap alternatives.

Re: New guy

That makes me wonder if there’s a demand higher than supply of marinas and if there’s any profitability in creating one.

Re: New guy

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.
