Howdy y'all, from Oklahoma.
Not new to sailing but new to the forum. The wife and I have decided to take an early retirement, I'm 47 and she is 43, to become a couple of salty cruisers. I have been a lurker here for awhile but look forward to becoming a more active poster. First off, thanks to you all for the knowledge I have gained on this forum. It has been handy as I am always learning and will be the first to admit I don’t know everything.

Welcome, Dude. Where do the two of you plan to locate? Oklahoma is not known for quality marinas.

Re: Howdy y'all, from Oklahoma.
After growing up with muddy lakes in Texas I'd like to spend a month or two or six on Broken Bow Lake.

Re: Howdy y'all, from Oklahoma.
Welcome Dude to the Forum...If you want to get a head start I would recommend taking some sailing courses. Get ASA certified and charter whatever type boat your're interested in or be volunteer crew.
I was born and raised in Oklahoma and there are many nice lakes to sail on. I began my sailing life on Lake Texoma on a 14' Hobie Cat back in the 70's; I was hooked.

Come down and sail on Canyon Lake; it's mostly clear, but if you're used to going aground, you'll find the muddy spots.
I agree on Broken Bow Lake; the bottom is all rocks and clear water.

We plan moving to Florida in the spring of '22. Spend a couple years getting used to a new boat, the open ocean and then we would like begin the around the world trek. Who knows but we are ready to experience it.

@Taichhungman
I was born in the 70's and had a Hobbie Cat! Sailed it on Lake Altus, Murray and Texoma. Just sold the old Pearson 323 and the slip on Lake Hefner.
Definitely plan on the ASA certifications. We have a broker and I feel sorry for him as the wife prefers a cat and I'm more of a mono hull fella, poor sob has his work cut out for him.

Re: Howdy y'all, from Oklahoma.
Welcome.
I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797
I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Hey Dude, Seems you have some experience and a plan; good for you and good luck with it all.
Just a point from an old guy; you better please your wife or you won't be.
