Hello

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. My wife and i bought a Swan 54 which we're going to sail in the Med. We're very interested in living off-grid and on the hook. Long-term plan is to sail the Atlantic (and maybe further) with our children.

Re: Hello

And your level of sailing experience is ,this is a big heavy yacht ,probably built to be sailed by a crew of a least ten ,the sails will be big and heavy ,the main will require a number of strong men to lift ,much more information needed please .⛵️⚓️

Re: Hello

Welcome, a nice boat indeed! The only Swan 54 I find online is rather modern so should lend herself quite well to double handing. Perhaps our paths cross one day, with my more humble X also based in the Med.

I'm not quite sure you'd need a crew of ten for a 54' Swan but when you start to get in the 50' and above sized sailing boat they can be a handful for a crew of two but manageable with experience. I'm only jumping in here because the Swans used a lot of our watermakers and I just wanted to say 'Hi" and if it is one of ours, I'd be happy to help you with it if you ever have any questions.

Nothing like a nice warm welcome to a new member...

Beautiful choice... Get some experience on another boat before you dare taking that beauty out with random crew... Better you learn some heavy weather skills on an instruction charter than scratch that girl... Frers boats can handle the abuse-- but ask yourself why risk it?

Cheers,

Vicki & Skipper T....

Re: Hello

Welcome aboard! I crewed on a Frers 65 from Sri Lanka to Hong Kong many years ago. What a wonderful boat to sail. I am sure you will have a wonderful time in the Med! Send us photos!
