Re: Guns on a Boat, Yes or No?

Just a quick note from your friendly "observers" (otherwise known as moderators).

We are pretty impressed that a gun thread has lasted this long without it going into the ditch and having to be closed. So, on that note, let's keep it that way. The thread is, however, starting to drift away from any cruising discussion. The best way to keep it open is to steer it back to the topic, and keep the discussion civil.

Thanks to all the members who have done that to this point. Your a great group.

You can't because it's worded as we already have that right. It just recognizes and guarantees it. If I was born with that Right then the only outcome for me is that God granted me that right.

God, your Creator or whoever else you attribute yourself too granted you and everyone else that right too. Over the years, many have had that Right infringed upon from those over them. Even the USA which recognizes and guarantees it and even goes so far as to say "shall not be infringed" has infringed upon it. The doesn't change the fact that we were born with it. People (some more than others) have just allowed it to be infringed upon.
You just tell 'em that when the time comes and I'm sure those nice customs people will immediately recognize that you're right and the laws of their nation are wrong.

Re: Guns on a Boat, Yes or No?

I stopped reading the thread a while ago, but did we ever find out what is planned to be hunted during various cruising stops?

We carry a weapon on board and declare it when we enter a foreign country.

Re: Guns on a Boat, Yes or No?

I actually find it nice to team up with other boats (usually American's) who have weapons, let them have the hassles of declaring them etc.
Nice to know they are within a few miles, also nice to know they are not on my boat.

... It's hard to have a rational debate when those willing to take your guns are so irrational.....

It's hard to have a rational debate when people start talking about their imaginary friend in the sky.

Re: Guns on a Boat, Yes or No?

Oops- then I retract! Thought it was a fair point. If you can enlist your sky ghost, probably the one who said 'thou shalt not kill', in defense of gun ownership, I'm pretty sure rationality has left the conversation.

Re: Guns on a Boat, Yes or No?

it is/could be a fair point, just a very emotional one. I would say even more so then anchors.

Re: Guns on a Boat, Yes or No?

And probably best left out of a thread that's, ostensibly, about rules and regs....

But he started it!!

Nice, now we have devolved into the whole "sky wizard" provocations. Too bad, it was a nice long run.
