Another Newbie

Hi,

I am a relatively late starter to sailing. I crewed (mobile ballast) for a bit on a raceboat out of Williamstown (Melbourne, Australia) but my sailing now is on a Farr 38 quietly cruising mostly single handed around the Whitsunday Islands in North Queensland, Australia. (After I get the damage from Cyclone Debbie fixed)

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Howdy and Welcome Aboard CF!

Coincidentally, I was just reading about Queensland, as I would like to sail there in the future.

Small world.

Bon Voyage on the Foamy Seas and on the Forum!

Re: Another Newbie

Thanks for the welcome guys - much appreciated, especially all the advice Steadman.

If you are thinking of sailing around here, if you can get an employment) visa Airlie Beach is a favourite backpacker destination and has a significant business with old Americas Cup and Sydney to Hobart yachts taking tourists around the Islands. I'm pretty sure they regularly employ deck hands. The local yacht club runs courses to qualify as Coxswain or Master 5.

Cheers
