Re: Why Climate Change Won't Matter in 20 Years

Hasn't the planet been warming up since the end of the last ice age?

And not all the scientist crooks go to bat for big oil...

Who says scientists don’t do it to get rich? Queensland climate expert in court over $500k in false expenses « JoNova

I wonder if he'll be Happer-ized by skeptics? I'm going to guess he won't be...and that'll be a tell as to who is afraid of the truth.

The guy in question is one signatory of several to a letter "urging lawsuits against companies like Exxon for, the petitioners claim, intentionally misleading about climate change." Companies, not 'skeptics'. You can all rest easy. If a company is intentionally spreading misinformation, damn right they can be sued.

I'm not comfortable with what I'm reading so far about the guy's salaries; if he's cooking the books or double-dipping... I'll be as angry as you about it.

After 2,000 posts, NOW you tell us?

That's what I thought, and it logically explains why the last 10 years may have been the warmest, and why some claim 2015 was the warmest on record. It's also right in line with all of the atmospheric temp measurements from the satellites, as well as the observed surface readings before they were adjusted upwards. It's only the surface modeling that has consistently showed a rate of warming much higher, and one more consistent with humans adding significantly to natural forces. But we know that it's only the surface modeling that relies exclusively on data inputted from the scientists, and none of those scientists are from the skeptic community. But that shouldn't matter, right?

Then again, Jack posted some charts/graphs awhile back that he said showed we're supposed to be in a cooling trend right now. Whatch ya gonna do?

Re: Why Climate Change Won't Matter in 20 Years

The big issue I have with all those surface temperature readings is many of them (in first world nations at least). Are located in heat islands. Which gives a false reading. BTW the average sea temperature today as I calculate it is 59°f.

No attack from here, but I could dispute our ability to forecast ice conditions 20 years from now

I guess you missed the other similar thread that started at about the same time as this one "The Human Cost of Weather Related Disasters”.

I raised this case in posts #42 and 43 in response to Mike's claim that "no one gets rich on government grants" Other links from that thread:

One such thread is quite enough. (one is arguably one too many on a sailing forum , but some might disagree ).

So... one guy. One Guy. In climate skeptic circles, he's more (in)famous than Justin Bieber. It seems that not a single right-wing/skeptic site is missing some mention of this... one guy.

If the intent is to prove that all of climate science is similarly tainted... gonna be a long decade. Best get on with it, then.

Don't forget the 0.6K average global temps have "drastically" risen in the last 150 years.

That rise is a false reading due to many temperatures being taken now in "heat islands"
