What's going on with all of the boat probs lately???

Hi all,

Saw a few days back that a crew of 6 people had to get rescued not that far from shore off of Sydney. Last month, a motor cruiser had a severe fire and was a total loss. Several months back, an older couple died because while refueling their sailing boat, their boat blew up!?!?!

My question is, what is going on with all of these accidents?? Is this common and an average and I'm just more alert to it?? OR is this year particularly high in incidents?? Just curious to see other people's input as it seems high to me..

Actually, boat incidents are less frequent these days then ever before in relation to the boating population. It's just the news can be had in an instant via the net.

A couple years ago when they had that tsunami in Malaysia I believe we heard about it here on CF before it even hit the national news.

Heck, just go to youtube.
