If you find any let me know. So far I find this is the ONE with folks out doing it and those who have.

How about this one..

And Mods...is there any way to upsize the Avatars any?...Some of the members like SurferShane are so small its hard to make the picture out...Ex Calif's is about right.
RE: AVATARS (& RUDNESS?)

I don't want to start looking like one of those people who sit on the net 24/7. The wind has just gone offshore and the surf is looking OK and I do need to get down to the boat. However, I have seen discussions on other sites as whether it is rude or not to have an avatar that clearly shows your face. The answer has almost always been that as long as the image says something about you it is fine. (Now for us blokes, just try to imagine the inferences of having a nice bikini bottom shot without being somewhat “rude”!).

Then on this and the other sites it has been my opinion that if someone really did want to get to see a decent photo of me you could go to my albums. In my case, I am the photographer, so there unfortunately aren’t many, but there are larger file images of my avatar and another couple of shots. Likewise members are free to email such requests.

1/3rd on topic? not bad for the internet
I have never been too keen on virtual anything especially gamming and those Ipod things that some people have had implanted. However, I do have a Facebook profile and this is where I keep in contact with my friends and often just talk crap.

On the topic of rudeness, your post reminds me I need to add a few friends to Facebook who panicked I had perished at sea last time I disappeared on the boat for a decent cruise. You guy’s probably know how it is; days turn into weeks, weeks become months and I am hoping my next month cruise becomes years!

To be honest, this thread has been sooooo sickly sweet and pc it's nauseating. Can't we just take it as read that we're all nice guys, and get on with arguing about something again?

janice--i am am member of most of the sailing and cruising frorums--this is the one with the most cruisers as members--the others really have so many more spammers and one is so lame as to be ridiculous. facebook is a place to keep in touch with friends and those who like to keep track of your sailing adventures and stalkers and cyber pervs.and hackers..as are all sites involving males and females and children.
as the world of cruising is so small., is a good thing to include a bit of humor and chat in the forum. makes it nice and friendly when ye go meeting folks. we ran into some cool folks last year on our near year gulf coast cruise. was a kick.

Ya, I am not so sure about clicky but I totally agree with you that there are those that are using this as one should use facebook (spam), just to chat and BS. These are usually not the cruisers but those with access to internet 24/7 and use this site for friendship.
It just a close group of people bigger than most small towns. We got them all and many are just the best people you would ever meet and probably won't and the rest are mostly just like you and me. We really are not trying to be facebook, but we get some of that too. Members often come here looking for something else. CF is a good place to hang out and after more than 7 years here I still think so even if I don't feel that way every morning when I get up. We have them all and there are more than twice as many members here as live in the whole county where I live.

Good folks are where you find them and if that isn't what cruising is I sure can't think of anything better. You have to look to find them and if there was a secret to looking that would be what I would seek. So far as I know it's mostly about showing up. Sometimes it's not what you see but what you look for. Not everybody is the same and its the way its supposed to be.

I'm thinking of all the beaches I've been on having Sundowners with other cruisers. In some places like Tonga there might be 100 cruisers on the beach, in Lizard Island, Australia often 50 cruisers early in the season and they tell me well over 100 before the NE's come in.

Standing on the beach with beer in hand information is passed.

The BS is the good part!

Remember at home before we came away I was going out to a bar with the boys and Nic was going out with the girls.

When I arrive home she says "What did you guys talk about?"
Nothin'
"You must have talked about something! Did you talk about girls?"
Nup. Talked about the Footy; Talked **** and talked about beer 'spose.

So she says: "Do you want to know what we talked about?"
Nup.
"Why not?"
I dunno. If I wanna hear about what you women talk about I woulda gone with you. But I'd be bored.

So, the moral of the story is BS is in the ears of the BSed. If its your sort of BS its what makes the world go round. If its not your sort of BS you probably think its BS.

I love the BS here Except for the stuff I don't listen to. Thats BS.
