Well then, stepping away from the theme of this joke thread to math, the correct math answer is therefore:

±2b

Not:
“The answer is +/-2b”
+ (addition) / (division) - (subtraction) 2b.

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

"+/-" is a standard way of writing ± (plus or minus) in plain ANSI text.

But it is incorrect in math, and in your answer, as the operators +, /, and - have mathematical meanings as previously stated.

If you don't know the correct way to write mathematical expressions, perhaps on this page we should stick to jokes.

If you don't know the difference between arithmetic operators and negative/positive numeric prefixes perhaps you should stick to just reading..

The symbols do not stand for "add", divide" and "subtract". They stand for "positive", "or" and "negative".

It is also worth noting that ±2 commonly means "in the range of +2 to -2", not "either plus 2 or minus two"..
IOW, ±2 is ambiguous. +/-2 is not.

This is a joke thread...

You stepped out to "correct" an answer that referred to Shakespeare's famous line as you yourself didn't understand the joke.

You strike me as one of those who enjoy "correcting" others, perhaps to demonstrate your superiority (bullying), but absolutely can not take being corrected yourself.

As such, I am going to ignore your further rantings and let you exist in your own little empire.

2B || ! 2B = FF
FF in COBOL is "High Values". Since Hamlet was considering the relative benefits of life vs death during this soliloquy "high values" was certainly the answer he was looking for.

Getting us back on the joke path:
"After the revolution, I was penniless, but the Czar was Nicholas."

If you catch fish in Mobile Bay, I guess you could have your Lox and Baygulls without the need to go to the bakery.

More code jokes. C++ is my language of preference despite its many peculiarities, here is a joke about some of them:

"C++, where your pointers dangle and friends get to play with your private members."

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

Robert, age 80, always wanted a pair of authentic Texas cowboy boots.

So, seeing some on sale, he bought them and wore them home.

Walking proudly, he sauntered into the kitchen and said to his wife, "notice anything different about me?"

Margaret, Age 75, looked him over. "Nope."

Frustrated, Robert stormed off into the bathroom, undressed and walked back into the kitchen completely naked except for the boots. Again he asked Margaret, a little louder this time, "notice anything different now?"

Margaret looked up and said in her best deadpan, "Robert, what's different? It's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, it'll be hanging down again tomorrow."

Furious, Robert yelled, "and do you know why it's hanging down, Margaret?"

"Nope. Not a clue", she replied.

"It's hanging down, because it's looking at my new boots!!!!"

Without missing a beat Margaret replied, "should have bought a hat, Robert! Should have bought a hat."
