Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

That is cute, but I think a better analogy would be.
If you are wearing pants and let loose a monster chili fart that would make a skunk envious, and the guy standing next to you is wearing pants. He will still puke.

The difference is between particulate matter and gas. If the guy next to you has an "accident" while letting loose with the chili fart, if he has pants on you won't get chunks blown all over you.

Another version: If you're spray painting do you wear a mask? If you do, you can still smell the paint, but you're not breathing into your lungs the paint mist and droplets. Hope this helps you understand.

Or do you use a coffee filter or tea bag when brewing? Or does it not make a difference in the minor inconvenience of placing the filter in before the coffee grounds?

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

I'll just send a pm. This is the joke thread. Not a place to argue.

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

In the peeing analogy, the person wearing one of those 3M masks with the little exhalation valve is the equivalent of the pee-ee doing so with their flies open.

When spray-painting, if you can 'smell' the paint, that means potentially harmful, possibly carcinogenic, volatiles are getting past the mask.

As a PPE salesman 30 years ago, we used to conduct 'saccharine bypass testing' to demonstrate the efficacy of different masks.

Basically, fit the mask "properly" (as per manufacturers direction) then with a small atomiser, spray a saccharine and water solution around the head.

If you can taste 'sweet', the mask is leaking.

If you're working in a sulphides factory (where I once did this test as a demo) the gases you inhale can kill you.

So a *properly fitted* mask is also critical.

All the so-called surgical masks do is prevent expectorated micro droplets from being expelled too far from the expellee.

So much more like the peeing analogy.

If YOU want to be *safe*, wear a tight-fitting rubberised mask and wear it TIGHT so that it seals, and ensure the filters are chemical cartridges as they are designed to stop spray droplets. But please, not one with an exhalation valve, in case you've got it and don't know, becasue you are then unwittingly giving it to those around you.

The loose fitting masks most of us are wearing during the pandemic are up to 75-80% effective.

Boston U did some testing of cotton fabric masks early in the pandemic and found they were 90% as effective as an N95-rated mask. Just be aware the N95 mask is only rated at '95' if it is fitted *properly* and most aren't.

So the cotton mask is fine for purpose - with the above qualifications.

If you want to be safe, don't breath anymore.

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

Actually, while I suspect you intend to be amusing, it's not strictly correct.

if you have a tight-fitting mask it will dramatically reduce the risk of your inhaling microdroplets that might contain virus.

So do keep breathing - but please use a mask.

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

Your immune system needs daily exercises to stay alert. Too much mask wearing weakens it in the long run. Wear your mask in crowdy places only and breath free whenever you can.

The mucous membranes inside your nose are natural masks to filter germs and early protect you.

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

Q: How do you tell the difference between a fully vaccinated person, and an unvaccinated person, if they aren't wearing a mask?
A: Ask them who won the US election.

Q: What do you call someone who won’t wear a mask?
A: You don't call them. You stay 6 damn feet away from them.

There is a law that says you don't have to wear a mask.
It's called Natural Selection.

They said a mask and gloves are enough to go to the grocery store.
They lied, everybody else had clothes on.

Everyone is posting photos of people from the 1910's wearing masks to protect themselves from the Spanish flu to try and convince people to wear masks now...
Idiots.
If masks work, then why are all those people in the pictures dead?

A man is shopping without a mask on ...
Shop Keeper: Hey sir, you can't shop hear without a mask on.
Man: Nah I have a Medical condition that makes it hard for me to breathe.
Shop Keeper: Oh, what condition?

Man: Covid-19.

In local news: a company that manufactures yard sticks announced it will not be making them any longer.

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

Good mask jokes Gord.
And masks benefit all of us when worn by the beauty challenged.
