A good friend of mine received the same, and the cheque was sent to him. It was a check drawn on a major corporation, and my friend, a very senior manager in the National Research Council of Canada actually knew the president of that major corporation. So he phoned him.

The cheque was of course fraudulent and he now has a pretty good story to tell.
