Angry Dental / Anchorage Recommendations

OK so I bought the boat and still have a few dollars left over. I looked in the mirror to check out the smile and Bam Toothache. Does anyone here know a good Dentist on the west coast of mexico? I would prefer if there was an anchorage somewhere near by......

Hi KharmaSeas:

Maybe calm the toothache with Lemon, pepperment or Almond
extract. The high alcohol content in the extracts relieves the pain.
Just pour some extract over the top of the tooth. Or saturate a
cotton ball with an extract & place over the tooth for more lasting
results.

If you don't have any extracts maybe you have some Whisky, scotch,
brandy or vodka ? Their high alcohol content works just fine.

Sorry, don't know any Mexican dentists.

Respectfully,
Paul

The west coast of Mexico is a pretty big place. Where are you exactly? If you are near any metropolitan areas, contact the nearest US Consular office for a suggestion. Note that in Ensenada however, the rule of thumb for teeth with cavities is: "When in doubt, yank 'em out"

Two days ago, KharmaSeas, you were posting about sailing to Santa Cruz with your family and lamenting the impossibility of getting insurance, even liability-only, as an Australian in American waters. Have you decided to sail to Mexico to remedy that problem?

If you're heading down there to obtain inexpensive dental care, I doubt you'll find anything outside of, possibly, Ensenada, then Cabo San Lucas, then La Paz, certainly. But it's a long way from, say, San Diego to La Paz.

Don't make the mistake of going to sea with a festering dental problem that can't be addressed for quite some time. You risk not just losing the tooth, but subjecting yourself to more potentially serious medical repercussions if you have a serious, spreading, untreated infection.

A lot of people here in San Diego go to dentists in Tijuana. The nearest Mexican port to the US is Ensenada.

I have a friend with a house in Mazatlan who had some major dental work done there--I think he had his teeth pulled and new ones implanted. He couldn't afford to have it done in the US and was happy with the outcome. If you are near Mazatlan, I could ask him for a contact number for the dentist.
