I wish I could agree with you Harry: ...this society of ours we are defined by what we do .... PRIMARILY. If one puts roofs on houses, one is a "roofer". If one drives a bus, one is a "bus driver". If one is in the banking business, one is a "banker"....

But it must be different here in the UK: I grew up on a farm - no one called me 'Farmer Bob' I used to build things - nobody called me 'Bob the Builder' (well only as a joke) and now I sail a boat - nobody calls me 'Bob the Cruiser'. But...

I sleep with just one goat...

Seriously though; I still have a house and even work most winters, but I consider myself a 'Cruiser' on the basis that whilst I know where I intend to be a week from today, it really doesn't matter if I'm somewhere completey different. But that's just what suits me I think anyone can be a Cruiser who wants to be; just set the parameters that suit you and enjoy.

Charlie,

Mayebe you are a wee bit BLUE, because you couldn't make the Haha? Blue is the color of hope, so don't despair. Your time will come, and leave within your own comfort zone. You chose not to leave, because you are willing to wait, and be sure the boat is ready. I call that a prudent sailor, and a wise one.

Every 1000 mile journey begins with the first step. You have gotten the boat from Astoria to San Diego. Now the next steps are making the boat ready. Remember it's harder to frown than smile. You are far ahead of many here wishing to fulfill the same goal.......BEST WISHES.................i2f

Are you a "real" Cruiser?
It is easy
Do you wear socks more than 10% of the day
No = Cruser
Yes = Not a cruser

Real Cruiser ??

As mentioned earlier, "Cruising" is a frame of mind. I "cruise" on my Harley up and down the West Coast. "Cruise" on my Ketch in the same direction, only on water. It's all about freedom and the adventure to step off the merry-go-round and enjoy the values of risk/reward.

Just my dos centavos,

Steve

Yep, cruising is a frame of mind. And I kinda figure that anyone who is too hung up on who is or isn't a cruiser, well, they probably ain't one.
