Hi Dave, In that case, please substitute personal "rights" everywhere that personal "belief" was written, and you will have a better understanding of what I was saying.

Re: Security - What do You Do ?

We have a dog who barks at all the passing by boats that he doesn't know, and some of the boats he knows tease him when they pass. He is a small stocky build english stafordshire bull terrier (big head and teeth, small body and no fear). Keeps our boat safe and us safe in town. And he is quicker to get out of bed and start barking at the darkness if he hears a strange sound (early alert system). Also gonna get a couple tazers to keep close in case someone tries to jump in our hatch. 1 million volts below the waist will makes most people leave in a hurry (if the dog doesn't scare them first).

Other than that we try not to anchor places that are known to be bad, and we try not to look like the nicest boat or easiest target in the anchorage.

Be aware that using a tazer on the bad guy may cause him (or her) to fall down the hatch and "into" your boat. We have had Police Cadets in the store that tested our stun guns on one of their volunteers. He fell straight to the floor.

It's always wise to be aware of your surroundings.
As an aside, I hear that Wasp Spray works quite well in a non lethal manner. This is not tested by me or anyone I know though, so do your own research on this. I "do" hear they may require medical attention after getting hit in the face with it.

You obviosly haven't researched it (or the rest of this thread ).

It is worthless unless you consider raising the "pissed off" level of the intruder.

Maybe that is what you want.

And maybe you might re-read what I just posted. I plainly and clearly wrote that this was untested by myself or anyone I know.

M5 MCCM non-lethal claymore

Why get a dog when you can set up a few of these bad boys? Wakes you up and drops "a large crowd of people". Your neighbours will love you!

According to the sales blurb it incapacitates the victim for about 10 seconds. Rename him "Kellet" in those 10 seconds and you might be safe...

Re: Security - What do You Do ?

It's just for a bit of fun, but I know if I jumped on board a boat to steal X and god hit with up to 600 rubber balls, in those 10 seconds I would probably reconsider my career choices.

You are on shore and your neighbors know it.

Your boat is dragging toward the rocks.

A. I don't know of your claymores and try to save your boat. Unsuccessful of course. I will now forever be shy of helping save a boat. I might even beat you to a pulp.

B. I know of your claymores. You get no help. Boat on rocks. Tough luck dude. YouTube video to be up soon.

Re: Security - What do You Do ?

I'm just wondering how many people have been killed so far on this thread?

Hopefully nobody?
Look, I don't like to see anyone get hurt. OTOH, if I deem you are a lethal threat to me and mine, the game just got changed.

Re: Security - What do You Do ?

An area that no one has entertained as being the possible reason for being singled out as a potential victim for theft etc is "THE FLAG YOU FLY", i'm sure various Third World Countries have different opinions and attitudes to the FLAG flown....

Cheers.
