Chesapeake Bay Houl-out yards

Hello everybody,

I am looking for a boat yard in the Chesapeake Bay area that is able to houl out my 27' wide cat and my friends 29' wide cat.
We want to leave the boats there for July- Aug 2013 and perhaps get some stainless stell and cabinet work done as well as antyfouling.

Also we need access with our 75' tall masts.

Please post below, pm me as you please.
Commercial replies welcome as well.

Big bay ...... she is. Where are you looking? North......south.....mid? Mainland side? Eastern shore? There are members on CF from all around the bay. If you are in my area (mid bay, mainland side) I can suggest a few places.

Georgetown Yacht Basin Welcome to Georgetown Yacht Basin, Inc. can definitely take cats that big.

Pleasure Cove Marina Pleasure Cove Marina in Pasadena, Maryland, United States - HOME might be able to take you. They were widening their dock over the winter. Not sure what the limit is so you'll need to check. If they can take you they are WAY CHEAPER than Georgetown.

Thank you for the replies.

We are currently cruising the Virgin Island.
We do not know the (big) bay; we are looking for a facility to do some work and store the boat.
It doesn't need to be fancy as long as they have good workmanship and cheap storage rates.

Mid bay (Rappahannock river) where I am I would recommend Deltaville Yacht Center. It is a family run marina with repair yard and experienced staff. Nothing `fancy`, but a very clean and fair marina. I have only heard good things about their prices and service.

A secondary yard in the area I would suggest is Stingray Point Boat Works. I have never worked with these folks but have heard other sailors praise since the new ownership.

If you click on the website for stingraypointboatworks, you'll see that they own another facility in the area call Chesapeake Boat Works. From first hand experience, they are a well run facility and I would highly recommend them.

Stefano, There are no shortages of yards in the Annapolis area that are more than capable of hauling and storing your boat. Then you will have easy access to any supplies and materials as well as skilled labor you might need. Some of the less expensive yards on the Bay will be much further away from that access. Chuck

Thank you for all the replies!

So far only Georgetown Yacht Basin are to be able to lift our wide beams, but at $42/day for dry storage + $1250 for haul, they are too expensive for us.

So, we are still in search for a (cheaper) catamaran haul out yard......

Hi all,
Just to update this thread, we found a place to haul catamarans up to 30' wide.
It is quite cheap and with all facilities.

It is in Beaufort, NC. The yard is called Beaufort Marine Centre, they are part of Moore Marine, famous for timber boat restoration. What they cannot do themselves is available from one of the many yards in the vicinity..

The yard manager is Bruce Williams, he has been in the industry for many years and is very helpful, their number is 252 728-7358.
