Good calls. Be aware of the new dam at False River, the water hyacinth problem that the A\State is refusing to acknowledge while even still planning that catastrophic water tunnel nonsense, and that Three River Reach was horribly weeded in when I was there last year.

Yes....Water hyacinth and egeria densa are currently big issues for the delta. Drought conditions and nutrient rich water have enabled these South American invasive plants to thrive and multiply at an alarming rate.

We as homeowners PAY divers to remove the egeria which have been clogging our bays. Sucks.

Liam, those are my favs as well! Yes Stu, three rivers was really shallow and super duper reedy when I was there.

It is sad that enough people still think it's okay to have the tunnel project on the table with our drought problem.

The meeting you refer to was held in the Sausalito Fire Station at 5 p.m. yesterday.

It was presented by the Chief of police as a first of meetings to come, because quite frankly he nor anyone else in Sausalito knows **** or shinola about the origins and usage of Sausalito's waterfront for anchoring. Chief says increasing numbers of inquiries about the growing numbers of boats on the west side of the channel, the Sausalito side, provided the impetus to have the meetings. Short of the long story is the Chief, although 10 hour permits are available by Ordinance, will NOT be issuing any... Smarter than creating a new ordinance prohibiting anchoring in the Sausalito side that runs head on into the fact only the Coast Guard has that authority...

It's a bureaucratic sleight of hand that could, if someone has the motivation and takes the initiative, be challenged with my favorite tool - a Petition for a Writ of Mandate seeking an order from the court that the Chief issue permits.

Otherwise, the Chief stressed their focus is solely upon Sausalito. In reality,
Richardson Bay is on tap for next in line.

Take notice of the photos accompanying the article. They are not taken of boats on the Sausalito side. They're of some of the worst boats in Richardson Bay. But hey, waddya expect? Probably provided compliments of the Sausalito Police Dept. or the RBRA.

I take exception with the article unless one includes those docked in the marinas. Observed a much larger proportion of anchored boats east of the channel.

Agreed, the majority of the worst looking boats are on the east side of the channel, but there are plenty of boats (35+) anchored on the west side of the channel. Most are between Dunphy Park and Pelican Marina - straight out from Bridgeway Marina at 225 Locust St. They are tightly packed and occasionally play bumper boats when the deeper draft boats sit on the mud at low tide while others swing freely. Most are unlit at night, impede passage in and out of the marina, and are a hazard (at night). Apparently it's an environmentally sensitive zone due to eel grass and associated herring spawning (or something like that - see article below).

Rumor has it that according to the RBHA, Cameron Razavi, the current owner of Bridgeway Marina at 225 Locust St, actually owns the water " space " that extends from the shoreline of the marina eastward. The RBHA and local authorities claim they have been asking Cameron for a number of years to authorize or place trespassing notices on the anchored out boats in this vicinity so they then have the authority to vacate the area, but that Cameron is not willing to do so. So in effect, all of these boats have " permission " to be on the west side of the channel in this area even though they do not have a permit.

Supposedly it's a political issue. Cameron and the city are at loggerheads over its refusal to approve his development plans, as well as overcrowding, crime and safety issues in his marina. It's also rumored the marina does not have an operating permit and BCDC has been trying to shut it done since almost 100% of the boats are liveaboards (violating BCDC's 10% rule).

So perhaps he's got some motivation not to cooperate. It's an old article, but it speaks to the issue and the subsequently failed development plans.

I'm guessing that when they start enforcement, the unoccupied boats will be junked, while those capable of moving will go east. This will force the other jurisdictions (Tiburon, Belvedere, Marin county etc) to follow suit and eventually they'll all go - who knows where. The ball is rolling.

Once popular sentiment is against something, it's only a matter of time. In this case, both the general boating community and the general public want this. Sure there are exceptions, but the fact that things are changing speaks for itself. Shame the bad apples had to ruin it for the good.
