Fridge pump out - still needed?

I am beginning to overhaul the galley plumbing in my new to me Morgan 44 from 1989. There is a manual pump under the galley sink which I think was used to pump out the refrigerator compartment. I’m wondering if this pump out is still necessary. Seems to me it may have been intended to be used if one was using ice for cooling. Since I’m not planning on dealing regularly with a bunch of melting ice (will have electric refrigeration) should I bother keeping the pumpout? It presents some challenges.

Re: Fridge pump out - still needed?

It’s still definitely nice to have because liquids can end up in the bottom. But it’s not strictly necessary. You could always use towels or cloths to clean up liquid in the bottom
