Cost of First Year Living On The Boat

When you say fee's but then say credit card rewards almost paid for it.
So the 70.00 for fees is offset by the card? 70 for a year just seems low.

What do mean it seems low? I paid $300 to the Bahamas, I paid $20 something for my customs decal, I paid for my annual coast Garud registration, I paid foreign transaction fees using my card in the Bahamas. During all that Chase paid me back in cash rewards that I applied to my balance and the other fees only became $70. That’s hy I use my card for everything possible I get the max cash back, they pay me use it and I move enough though that account that if I have a problem a new card will be waiting me the next day at the marina.

But, I have to say how can you move a daughter for only $288.88? Wow! That is amazing! Anything to do with my daughter costs more than a good case of rum!

Finally got her married off, now I'm paying for a son in law and daughter! Geeze!

that's what I was asking if it was offset by the credit card. I knew the Bahamas permit was more than 70. Maybe next time break that out a little more. ie. 300 cruising permit, -130 credit card rewards.

Not giving you crap I'm less than 2 years from leaving so I like what you are doing.

Well she paid most and that was the costs my wife spent flying up and helping her

I have been looking at your detailed expenses for the last five years. Thanks so much for sharing. We are a few years behind you. Had our boat for 4 years. Trying to wrap up refit over the next 18 months. Then we untie the lines!

One question you may have answered prior is health insurance. Is that included in your medical category. Or somewhere else?

Yes my medical insurance is in that medical item. We have an AHCA plan with the max subsidy so we pay $22.27/mo if everything is good. Of course later this month I've got to go for testing so that will probably be $600 of co-pay.

Sailor B, I read your initial post of annual expenditure and I don't see "fees" there. On your latter post u detail breakout of spreadsheet. I see one place where it says 'other fees'... maybe 69 dollars. I am pretty sure checking into Bahamas are more expensive then that. Help an old fart and explain it a little better. I just don't see where it is lumped into. thanks. Alan.
