Dunno about 'way to go' it's killing my legs
Do miss my m'bike as its put a couple of my favourite hangouts outa reach.
When you say 'bolt hole' are you talking about a land based place for you to go back to? If so maybe you should consider some of the offers being put out in Spain and Italy where houses are being put up for a few euro's along with a grant to help you renovate.
If your thinking canals and rivers maybe a Southerly or similar lifting keel is something to consider.. just depends on what your ambitions are, Med and canals/rivers pottering or Transats etc, a modest boat for Med/rivers sailing/confidence building and do crewing for the long range dreams then in a few years sell and buy something to suit your ambitions and abilities or, retire to your village retreat..
The door is open, you just need to step through.
Stay well, stay safe lovely lady and stay strong, you can do it I know you have what it takes.. I've seen it..

Hi Em... good to hear from you. Guess you lost interest in the boat down this way then.
All is good here, have sold the m'bike and bought myself a bicycle in a desperate attempt to try and get rid of my Covid related belly, it does not suit me.
Hope the home improvements are going well and everything else is moving to plan for you.. maybe you should be eyeballing the US market where your type of boat is more common.. Baba's etc.
Anyway.. keep smiling, ya know it suits you..

Well there's Gameyun for one, LitttleWing, and a couple of others.. I'd not worry about it as there's women in their twenties as well, one just does not get them on here bragging about it... get too much waffle when they pop up.
There was a young lady in Panama who bought a boat there and spent time fixing it up..
Think she did some YouTube stuff about her efforts.
Oh.. and there's a female couple who sail their boat in the Med who are members..
Age has nothing to do with it..

Hi Em.. Yup its getting into the 18 to 20c here but the wet season is now starting as the fronts sweep in from the Atlantic.. does not start drying up till late May when the Azores High gets dominant.
No jabs as yet, the few arriving are for the vulnerable in care homes etc so cannot see a jab for me before summer.. if then. Lockdown is here till Easter then will be reviewed.
No jobs and can't see any coming through for a long time and when they do not sure I will be interested, time will tell..
Enjoy the market, then take a walk on the shore..
    Keep smiling chook..

    Hey Wolfie..
How's things in Dieppe/Paris these days,???
All still quiet down here and lots of Pandemic crap still flying about.. hope all well with you and yours.
Spotted several boats I would have liked to buy including a beaut Rival 32 going for a song down the coast from you but travel restrictions blocked me from getting to it.. sold in less than 2weeks...
Mind if they start with these stupid vaccine passports to travel I won't be buying anything out country much less doing any more deliveries as they can shove it where the sun don't shine.
    Stay well our kid..

Thanks Wolfie, good on your for getting some sailing in during this season of woe. A little will have to go a long way for many of us. I have no real prospect of even seeing my boat till next Spring now. I just hope it can survive another Newfoundland winter without too much damage.

But I can't really complain. Our Plan B has been fun so far. Got the little motorcycles out of storage and have driven two thousand km across Canada. Tomorrow we carry on through British Columbia, heading for Vancouver Islands where we get to spend a couple of weeks house sitting and exploring. I plan to check out some marinas, and possibly some cheap land.

Stay warm and dry. Hopefully we can both get back on the water in the not-too-distant-future.

    Hey Wolfie,

Good to hear from you.. and that your attacking your home with sander, paint etc.. still working on the AirB&B idea.. or off on another tangent.
Also hope throwing off old shackles is working out well for you and your enjoying new won freedoms like more time to sail.
How did the Boat Show with the Fisher go, loadsa new faces and contacts I bet..
Anyway, will quit now as a public messaging formats not best for being nosey.. lol.
    Be well, be safe..
    Big hugz,

    still sailing an armchair...
the goal is/was still FREEDOM AT 55: financial independence, own boat, sailing the med initially and going farther out in a few years. no, no boat yet...

given the economy, might get an even smaller boat and just be that girl with a huge smile on a tiny boat. want to do long passages, so it will be a gamble.

did most of these courses five years ago and haven't actually applied what i learned all that much so need to do most again...

    - RYA Competent Crew
    - RYA Dayskipper License
    - RYA Marine Radio License
    - RYA Navigation course
    - French River Permit (river access in Europe)
    - French Coastal Permit
    - Power Squadron Marine Electrical Systems course
    - Power Squadron Engine Maintenance course
    - Safety at Sea course and hands-on day
    - CPR certified with American Red Cross

still reading, still dreaming but have a lingering fear of sailing an armchair...

for the mermaid seekers out there: thank you, but, for years now, i only crew for and fix-the-boat for people i know well and trust.

a huge thanks to all of these friends who have been checking in every so often. i really appreciate you!
