Good Golly! We made it home after a wonderful 7 full days of sailing around the Keys. Saw the sun rise every morning and enjoyed watching it set in the evening! No rain, just sun and plenty of great breezes. Anchored out each night... once we stepped aboard, we didn't go back in for the full 7 days! It was a true joy to stay out for the whole week. I think I got a feel of what it's like to really be on an extended
cruise.
My wife & I both passed my 101-104 tests and got loads of experience and insights while having one hell of a good time! One of the great things about this course and the instructor was that we were able to take our 12 year old daughter along with us. She wasn't able to take the tests, but she was with us the whole week
learning all the ins & outs! Heck, I think she picked up most of it faster than her mom & I did.
Kids soak this stuff up like a sponge...
The wife and I also talked on the way home last night and are going to start looking for a trailer-sailer that we can pull to the Chesapeake and such so we can get more experience and build on the lessons we just learned and broaden our horizons... Also think I will put the word out that we can be available to help out anyone on the weekends to get more experience as well. If anyone out that needs some crew some weekend in the upper Chesapeake area, drop me a line. There you go. I haven't been to
bed in about 36 hours or so, so I am now officially tired and going to heave to now. Good night.
