Circumnavigation via Cape Horn

All right, twist my arm, I'll go. Thought I'd prefer East to West. And look, one bottle of wine with dinner is ok. St. Francis 50 would be my choice. But it's your money, I'm just along for the ride.

Well,it's still long way to go..
There is no boat, no crew yet..
As I am going west to east I don't have to beat westerlies.. But in any case the catamaran that I am looking for will have some beating capability..

Best of luck with your plans. Don't listen to the naysayers - the voyage can be done, has been, and will be again.
I find it interesting that you consider there is nothing to see in a conventional route. IMO, quite the opposite. You will learn a lot about people, cultures and history, much of which is mostly unknown to the average westerner. And the dangers are overstated - Malacca is really interesting, as is Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka etc etc.
Anyway, the challenge and risks of a high lat circumnavigation are more related to nature, where the tropical route more related to people. All IMO, of course! Very few multihulls go the way you're planning.

-West to East :Las Palmas, Brazil, down until we hit the easterlies, then cross to Cape Town, Perth, south of Australia, Wellington, Cape Horn (probably via Magellan strait) back to Gibraltar by cutting the westerly trades as much as possible.
-East to West : Las Palmas, Brazil, Cape Horn, up the Chiliean cost with with south easerly trades, then pick up the easterlies at S 15-20 and proceed west, North of Australia, Cape Town, back to Gibraltar.

either way my choice of vessel would be a nice strong 60 + foot mono hull.
i would also if doing a passage like this use it as an opertunity to visit islands like kerguelen,amsterdam island in the southern ocean,rapa nuie in the pacific,and fernando de noronha and the falklands on the way!

Do you usually spend two and half years to figure out that someone is ridiculeous ? brilliant..This was posted in May 2014..

By the way, during these 2,5 years I've found the boat to do it. All iwhat s missing now on my list is people. Hope that this will take less than 2,5 years to find.

Mine is much more comfortable than this. You won't be sleeping on nets but on full island queen's beds..Well, untill we go turtle..
