I'm curious about this because we recently moved to FL and need to register our boat here. Does this prevent you from having to pay the use tax? We've always only ever been federally documented, did not pay tax when we purchased the vessel.

If your boat was purchased in a state other than Florida, and more than 6 months previously to entering the state, you are exempt from paying Florida State Sales Tax. The Antique vessel (if your boat qualifies) registrations takes the Use Tax down to just about nothing.
