Journals/Books on Sailing the Great Lakes

Hello,

I'm very new to sailing, and have a question I'm hoping someone here may be able to answer for me. For several months I have been busy avidly reading many online journals written by families on round-the-world sailing trips. The stories are incredible, but I'd like to read about something a little closer to home. Is there any similar online journals or books written by couples or families who have done this on the great lakes?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Stacey

Try this: https://www.bluewaterweb.com/Cruisin...=9780979793714

I've only been on Superior a couple of times but on Lake Michigan extensively. I don't know how much of a guide you'll need. Stick to the east side and there are ports about every 7 miles.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not actually looking at the details of planning a trip myself right now, but rather hearing about what other people have seen/done on their trips round the lakes. What were their cool stops, memorable experiences, lessons learned, etc. I'm nowhere near the place to be looking at charts or making my own plans.

You could also search for state and national parks on the shores of the lakes. Then look for info on them. Wisconsin has Door County, in Michigan I'd look at Grand Traverse Bay, Harbor Springs, Leland, Macinawa Island, Beaver Island, Isle Royal, and the Apostle Islands. Canada has Georgain Bay and Manatoulin Island. Then Thousand Islands in New York. Others who are East of me would know a lot more about Erie and Ontario. But frankly, Lake Michigan is the best
