How long to sail from Halifax to Kingston ?

I was curious how long it would likely take me to sail from Halifax to Kingston. Through the St. Lawerence. Either passing through the causeway at Cape Breton or sailing around it. Any useful info. Or resources would be appreciated.

Have you broke out the charts, figuring out average winds and wind directions from the pilot charts, figuring your your boat speed and on what point of sail and under what wind speed? It's probably a good exercise to do this before departing. You would probably come up with a pretty good minimum and maximum amount of time it would take to do your cruise. Have fun with it.

I was just looking for some general info. Inquiring to a group of people that might know. Kinda hoping for a general estimate before I go out and blow a ton of money on some detailed charts.

Money spent on charts is never blown !! It's the best safety equipment on board any boat !! Just my 2 cents, (i still have charts I bought in 1957 )

Well, unless you find nice easterlies (not likely this time of year), once you get into the Gulf of St. Lawrence, you are working against current, wind and half the time, tide.

Unless you are going for the scenery at Cape Breton/Bras d'Or Lakes (which I understand is really nice), and if you want to just get there, I would sail Halifax to New York City (and soon, given hurricane season's started), and then motor up the Hudson to Albany and then lock up to Oswego. You can see Kingston from Oswego, or near enough...it's a four-hour beam reach or thereabouts NNW.

Otherwise, it's a lot of diesel hours you'll be clocking. Avez-vous le francais?

You are going to be a motorboat once you get into the river. If you do not have the charts for the trip and cannot figure the answer to the question you have asked you need to take someone with more experience with you.
