Sailboat Part (RVG selfsteering gear) ($400 or Best Offer)

Hi, I'll start off with saying I know nothing about sailing. I don't even know what this part is called. An old roommate left it at my house and never came back for it. I'm moving and would like it to go to someone who will use it instead of the dump. Please let me know if there is a better place to post this.

Item is located at Norfolk, Virginia

RVG selfsteering gear. I once had one. Here's some potentially useful info:

Thank you. Looks like I can't edit the title. But will repost correctly if no one is interested. Thank you for the link as well!

Post how much you want to sell it for and I will alter the title to match. You should also include your location, so you don't end up having to post it to England.

Thank you. I have no idea how much this thing is worth. I guess I'll say $400 or next best offer. I'll see if I can change my location on my profile. It's Norfolk, Virginia

Please, let’s keep this forum for its intended use and try not to turn it into a swap meet. The rules should apply to us all, without exception.

Sorry about that. Please let me know which rule I'm violating and I'll see if I can fix it.

Like the OP I too am kind of new here. I was unaware there was some problem with selling items related to boats/sailing until I read your note.

So I looked through the rules of the website and what the OP is doing seems to clearly be within the site rules as I read them.

So please explain what was wrong with his post.

I note that a site administrator was helping him and not telling him he was out of line in some way.....

Giro, he posted a for sale advertisement in the Classified Ads section for heaven's sake! If you don't want to see stuff for sale, don't peruse the classified ads okay?

By the way, Rol227, Welcome to the forum!

For all readers / posters, the guidelines (rules) for the classified forum can be found here https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ement.php?f=64

In short, the pertinent section includes

Quote:
All For Sale ads | You must be the owner of the boat or item
ALL Ads MUST include asking price and location in the body of the ad post
Don't post links to commercial sites where you are also offering the boat, such as eBay or Craigslist or Yachtworld etc. You may, however, link to a non-commercial webpage - such as a personal blog - if it contains a more in-depth description, additional information or pictures.
Place only one ad per item (you may repost only when your ad has been archived)
Ads may be removed by our staff at any time for any reason.
If your item has been sold, please post an update to your thread.
Don't forget to select: FOR SALE, WANTED or FREE in the Title block.

Your ad should include ALL of the following:
Price (in the advert title or main body of text)
Location
Detailed description
Pertinent maintenance and condition information
Exterior picture or pictures
Interior picture or pictures

He owns it by default.
He has priced and located it.
No mention of swap, except for money.
If you’re an aspiring moderator, guess you
Better read the rules and have a chill pill.
