Re: Need boatyard in Southern Queensland

There is another option for you at Urangan(Hervey Bay). Big new travel lift and upgraded hardstand area started operating in 2016. I was hauled out there 20 months ago and lived aboard but was only out of the water for two weeks.

Hi Simi60, could you get your boat in there on an average high tide?

Reckon I probably could but then what?
We come out with a 200 tonne 8 strap lift.

Thanks for that. I'm thinking about trying to put our 60 foot Clipper in there sometime; Redland's got a great reputation, as you say. But we're only 35 tonne wet even though we draw 1.7 metres.

Re: Need boatyard in Southern Queensland

There is also Monty's Marina at Beachmere up the Caboolture river at the back of Bribie Island they are very much a traditional yard, people are friendly and efficient. I used them a number of years ago when I had a Roberts 34. The only problem then was getting in and out as the water is a bit thin on a keel boat you had wait until a spring tide. They don't have a web site but are on facebook. Cheers

This is the Slipway in Bundaberg,
Bundaberg City is across the river,
I lived on my boat for a week when I had a broken Driveshaft,
My boat was floating on every tide change,
So its over a metre of water on the high tide,
its 13 miles up the Burnett river,
Easily Navigated at high tide,
Plenty of large cats on swing moorings in the river as well.

Re: Need boatyard in Southern Queensland

Another vote for Redland City Marina for your needs. Ken Drummond is an awesome guy running a clean and efficient yard. Has a hydraulic 30 tonne sea lift that can get your size out and they have long term hardstand rates. One can negotiate to live aboard. All service contractors are on site, and they work alongside DYI owners.

Access is only on high tide from Morton Bay, but they will give you the tide window to come in. Stay close to the Reds on the way in. Local knowledge helps getting in the first time, so if you come this way, let us know in advance and someone local will surely help.

It’s 3.2Km from Victoria Point township that has all other amenities. Not as flash as “The Boat Works” but a friendly & happy yard. See: Redland City Marina +61 7 3207 7506

Re: Need boatyard in Southern Queensland

Hi mate, what did you end up finding? Most of the replies you got were for a week or 2 but your issue was really for somewhere reasonably priced for an extended period of time. I am currently looking for the same thing but all I can find are yards that cost $700 p/w (35ft yacht). For 4 months at that rate just makes the whole thing unfeasible. Interested to find out if you found a boatyard cheap enough to make it work? Cheers

Check Monte's south of Moolooba. Very shallow, will depend on your draft. I expect there is nowhere cheap anymore. Sorry.
