Who does arches, bowsprit, aluminum fabrication for reasonable rates?
My Gulf 32 is in SF but I could travel to get work done.
Somw of the quotes I have gotten are outrageous. Granted I want a very nice full featured arch but after being told 20K for metalwork on 32' boat I think I might look in a different country.
I am looking to build my boat up like the Bannerot's, a livaboard work boat, fishin machine. Reference 'TheCruiserHandbookOfFishing'
Anybody in CA?
Any suggestions?

Did you price stainless? It might be less and holds a polish much better than the anodizing on aluminum. Just a thought.

I have a friend in FL(talented aluminum guy) and would almost consider buying a bender renting the welder and flying him in...
So a cruise to socal wouldn't be out of the question.

Hello all,

Please keep in mind that even Stainless will rust if it is 304. I would also like to add that if you really want to save money build it yourself. You can pick up a nice used welder cheap and build everything you need and then sell the welder.

I can rent a welder and I have been to fab school. The cost is actually in the bender and all the dies neccesarry to use different size tubing. I can find a reasonably priced skilled tadesman to finish weld it. What I can save money on is building, bending, notching, fitting, and tacking everything. As well as design... That is what also costs... I don't think I need help much with the design but I might cut it up and waste more tube than someone who does it alot. Plus my welds would not be as nice as someone who is currently welding every day.

I have spoken to MR. RPM many times and he is always very busy. Some times so much he cannot be gotten ahold of. I do believe that he can bend tube and has some nice projects on his website.
Maybe I will try again.

Looks like I am going to buy the bender and design, bend, notch, and fit myself.
MR RPM mobile welding from above link does not do his own bending.. And he outsources to muffler shops mostly but they cannot do schdule 40 alum pipe. The can do thin wall 3 or 4 inch steel for exhaust tube but not thick alum pipe.

When i still worked at the shop they would order rings from another place that had a roller, I made myown and saved $$$$$$ its a shame i cant walk into the shop anymore and use the tools.

Svendsen was the >20k quote and that was for SS. I am going to bite the bullet and purchase a nice bender.

Svens does not bend aluminum!
