Your engine is a 1980 model 23hp, so it's about 35yrs old.
Looks good though.
Internal parts can be hard to come by, maintenance parts still avaiable.

I dont think I would use this engine is SA, if it isnt it pristine condition.
I would use a engine based on mitsubishi (vetus/Sole/Craftsman/..) or Kubota
(Nanna/Beta/Uniersal/..) industrial engine, as internal parts are avaiable throughout the world in tractor shops. Marine spesific parts are often interchangeable between brands.

I got a universal M-12 kubota engine and use a Nanni 2.10 salt water pump.
