Offshore Options Tayana/Kelly Peterson

Hoping to get opinions on two boats we are considering for circumnavigating, livaboard comfort and seaworthiness, ride friendly and resale. The options are Tayana Vancouver 42 and Kelly Peterson 44. Do you know of any inherent problems with either of these options?

Thanks for your valued input.

They both will work but very different boats.

Which one gets you excited?

They both have unique issues that should have been addressed by now. Check out the owners sites for help. The Kelly Peterson site is especially good. I have always thought that boat was way ahead of its time.

That's the one I would buy.

We have a tayana 42 cc and have been very happy w/ it. There are three of us on board full time and the boat works well for us.
Check out sailnet board site for tayana's. There is also a site tayanaownersgroup.org which will help you also. Good luck, you really can't make a bad choice between those two boats.

Thank you for your replies. When we first started looking for an offshore boat we were told the Kelly Peterson should be on the top of our list. The two we have checked out both had serious deck core saturation problems so we are a little suspicious of them now. However, they seem to hold their value well.

Are there any inherent problems with the Tayana 42 that we should know about?
