Epoxy, or Resorcinol glue and 2 or 3 deep screws. Screws will work fine. Predrill properly.

NO, Resorcinol glue requires "Light tight" joints with high clamping pressure.
Good for Spruce masts and similar work that uses long ratio scarf joints, (lots of surface area,) with clean non-oily wood.
It's a "chemical" bond, the way the OPs parts are with their splintered/jagged joint area, a "physical" bond glue with gap-filling ability is needed.
Use Epoxy.

I agree re using dowels plus glue will produce a higher strength repair.
