Cockpit seat for vertically challanged

My wife and I are not very tall sailors, albeit, we have logged several miles and hours. Our issue is we need extra height when standing behind the wheel and about 6 to 8 inches when we sit behind the wheel especially when we are travelling along the AICW. We have tried cushions, companionway boards but they are not stable and not comfortable. This is more of an issue when we have the dinghy on deck. I would appreciate any suggestions.

We have a caravan step for just this purpose. Standing on it gives the height to view over the spray hood and with a cushion the seat height is just right to see through it.

We have the same problem seeing over the dodger when standing at the wheel. You have me thinking about building a wooden step. When sitting, a flotation cushion is enough to see over the binnacle and through the dodger window.

SD,

Picture of the step we use. I think we have had it about 5 years and despite being made of mild steel is only just starting to rust, not bad for £12 or so.

The feet just fit into the cockpit well so it doesn't side around.

Thank you Pete, It looks sturdy (and affordable) so I will get to try it in late January when we leave for Norfolk

Count me in, Vasco. I would have no trouble wearing them, albeit, I am not known for my grand leaps, it could conflict with my dance! Also I may have a problem with the First Mate wearing them!
