more info please : when you say 'straw' do you mean a plastic drinking straw sort of thing, or a piece of straw like out of a straw broom thing ?

what is the material of the 'straw' ?

i'm thinking it has the potential to block oil flow somewhere, with likely negative outcome

however there are others here with far greater mechanical knowledge than me
