With proper storage, operation, and maintenance... a lot of problems can be avoided ^

Just strip the engine completely. All of the pistons need to come out and be checked--and any corroded liners and pistons replaced, valves and seats inspected and replaced if necessary or the block re-bored. it sounds like a big job to me--but if done properly, probably worth doing.

Re: Seized Perkins 4107 strange behaviour.

Hi FionaJC
we have the4108 similar engine with Hurth gearbox.
Engine apeared seized after a run with no previous warning signs.
Tried large socket & bar solid
Pulled engine & removed gearbox It was the imput shaft on the gearbox seized causing the misdiagnosis.
we could have unbolted the gearbox in situ and slid it out for rebuild and saved a lot of extra work may be worth trying. These are great engines and go on and on keep trying and good luck ! Hugh SY "Sulaire" Samos Greece

Re: Seized Perkins 4107 strange behaviour.

I’ve seen YouTube videos of people redirecting old diesels that have sat in a field for 20 or more years. Trees growing up in the vehicle so yes it’s possible to do in some conditions where you expect zero chance of it working.
