Push Pull Clutch cable travel

I recently removed my engine to rebuild rotten mounts and replace piston rings. When I reinstalled it seems I can't get the clutch cable adjusted properly - I don't have enough travel. There is about 5" between forward/reverse but the cable seems to only travel about 3 1/2". So I can get forward OR reverse working but not both. New cable?
