Re: Perkins Perama 50HP

Is this the Perkins labeled engine that had an OHC and a rubber drive belt? I think Italian made...?

Re: Perkins Perama 50HP

I HAD the Prima 60. Parts are expensive and hard to get. They leak oil like a sieve. It let me down too many times. They are also overrated and do not produce the claimed horsepower. It is a high RPM diesel (like 4000).

I repowered.

Re: Perkins Perama 50HP

Perkins M50 now 21 years old. Fantastic engine apart from the overhead camshaft, once you master changing the timing belt.
Have just rebuilt injector pump at a cost of $900, most expensive thing we have ever had to do on it.
Well maintained and regularly serviced by us, never had any outside mechanic in over 12 years.
I know that this engine gets slagged off regularly but honestly we are more than happy with ours.
