Import Beta engine from UK to USA

Hello, new to the forum and larger sailing boat ownership.
I’m considering buying (more than likely) a 48ft sailing yacht in the USA east coast. I live in Uk and plan to cruise Europe for the next 3-5 years. Problem is the yacht engine is shot and so need to replace it before crossing back to Europe.
It’s currently registered in USA but was thinking of registering in UK once I purchase it. Question is can I import a Beta marine engine Beta 90T to be exact from the Uk which seems much cheaper than USA and also get around the EPA tier 3 restriction. Once fitted I would leave shortly after, not sure if there would be a time restriction around this or the fact it was UK registered would exempt it.
Would there be import duties payable in this situation?
Any wise words would be very much appreciated.
Cheers Tony

If I had an importation question I would rely on the government administration which has jurisdiction in this matter. https://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-import-export
“Advice” on the internet is worth what you pay for it.

Re: Import Beta engine from UK to USA

You need to call Beta USA or Beta UK. There are restrictions to importing the Beta 90, (which is not an EPA, Tier 4 engine) into the USA. If the engine is going into a yacht that is being exported from USA, then it is easier to import that engine for exportation purpose only. Provided that you are exporting the vessel/engine to a country that has certified that engine for importation.

Re: Import Beta engine from UK to USA

Replace the engine in Canada unless they have an equally harmful EPA.

Also the exchange rate if favorable to the US $.

Thanks
There seems to be a big difference in price between Uk and USA price. I’m told that if you allow them to destroy the old engine that’s in the boat you can comply with the epa rule. I have contacted Uk waiting for a reply
