Re: Disposing of diesel?

OK. Have you considered moving the upright in front of the bow about 6 inches toward the truck, and shifting more weight onto the tongue? Ordinary trailers (Yeah, yours is custom built) have that upright clamped to the tongue, adjustable fore and aft, for exactly this problem.

Not on Pepin unless much else goes wrong, at least this time of the year.

The main upright is welded, but the piece holding the two pads that rest against the stem is bolted. Moving the boat forward would mean drilling new holes. Which would be a lot less work than moving the axles.

I'll keep that in mind, the next time I ready her for the road. Thanks.

The main danger, I would think, would be being run down by a tow. We don't see the monster tows up here that we would south of St. Louis, but the fifteen-barge tows we do see aren't going to be making any fast course corrections just because your engine died in the middle of the channel.

Disposing of diesel?

Isn’t this a sailboat? The barges don’t go that fast if you pay attention you can stay out of the way

Also I don’t think you will be hitting 50 on many roads from Pepin to Lake Superior

It will be a sailboat, after I replace the rigging.
