Alternative for Volvo Penta MD22 Torsion Vibration Damper

(The one that connects the flywheel to the gearbox.)


These are unavailable yet commonly fail. Does anyone know of an alternative that can be forced to fit?

Not sure I understand what you are looking for....a new damper or something different to replace the original damper?

I have a couple of them marked “10 1866 061 004 Volvo 854345” that I could make available. Made by Sachs.

You might also try Transmission Marine Inc in Fort Lauderdale (Transmission Marine Inc- Industrial part| Installation Service & Repair). If they can’t get one, they will know what would work.

Call PYI, in Lynnwood, WA, USA (425) 355-3669 They distribute R&D drive plates and will be able to supply a plate that does not use springs and is a reasonable price.

I eventually found one, the last one in Australia, paid $1300 for it (!)


Alternative was to find something similar and take the odd spline out of the old one and machine it into the new one.
