Fuel consumption Isuzu LC 1

I just purchased a Fisher 30 (unpaid yard bill sale by marina - Shelter Island, Richmond, BC, on the Fraser River) with an Isuzu LC1 4cyl diesel.
With the help of an excellent local mechanic, and rebuilt injectors and injector pumps (one for each cylinder) the engine, which sat for several years is running well.
Displacement 14,500 lbs, LWL 25 feet.

My first question is how much diesel per hour should I expect to burn, if I run the boat at 5 to 7 knots. I plan to watch the wake and try to find the sweet spot. I don't expect an exact number, just ball park.

I would especially like to hear from any others who have had an Isuzu LC series engine for a while, for tips on care and feeding.

Thanks!

Re: Fuel consumption Isuzu LC 1

Panope is same the weight and similar water line (27 feet) as your Fisher. With a 40 HP, 3 cylinder Yanmar, fuel burn is about:

.3 gallon per hour at 5 knots

.6 gallon per hour at 6 knots

1.2 gallon per hour at 7 knots

No "sweet spot" has been found.

Slower = better miles per gallon.

Thanks!
That's the sort of answer I was looking for. I'm familiar with the Saugeen Witch. Nice boat, and probably comparable enough for present purposes.

Double the fuel for each knot over 5. That makes 5 knots look pretty sweet.

Re: Fuel consumption Isuzu LC 1

Are you in the Seattle area?
I lived aboard in Lake Union and Portage Bay, 1969/70, then in Port Townsend, from 71 to 96, when I immigrated to Canada.
Now Gabriola Island, near Nanaimo
