What to Look for in an F-27 ?

I have been looking to purchase an F-27 and could use some help. I am familiar with the boats and have sailed on various Farrier/Corsair boats several times. However, whayt I am looking for is what to look for or look out for in a used boat. Thanks

First things first, all the usual stuff about laminate integrity, engine, wiring quality, rig condition, etc. applies to an F-27 just as much as to any other used boat. So I take it you're looking for issues specific to the Farrier/Corsair trimarans, that wouldn't be a concern on other boats. The big issue, I'd say, is the added structural complications of a folding trimaran. Farrier's engineering skill was remarkable, but some older boats may have been abused and I have heard rumours of some where the folding linkage might not have been built as well as Ian intended. A marine surveyor familiar with these boats should be able to recognize the tell-tale signs of abuse or over-stressing having damaged the crossbeams, linkage, or attachment points.

It might be possible to dig up more specific info if you have more detailed questions... happy shopping

Start here http://www.f-boat.com/owners/index.html - Ian has some good stuff on his site.

then join the fboat list on yahoogroups.

then go to a dealer. Fboats are unique enough that a surveyor is a waste of time, and the way the community is setup, the dealers are your best source of info, and are very competent in evaluating the conditions of the boats.

Where are you located?
