Re: What happened to "Cheeky Monkey"

Does anyone know which video post was about uninvited guests just jumping aboard?

Here is the link to the blog post referencing the uninvited guests: Outfitting a Boat to Sail Around the World: What We Bought, What We Learned & What We'd Do Differently - Turf to Surf. That was simply a lead-in to a very comprehensive post on their recommendations for outfitting a boat to sail around the world.

Wow, that sucks! I would definitely get angry after couple of such "guests".

My guess is that they were excited and likely clueless that they were being rude. Tasha pointed out that they normally welcome impromptu visitors, so maybe the couple made assumptions that they shouldn't have.

You may be right onepea.. but it's a shame common manners aren't as common as one would like.. I'm sure no long term harm was caused, some people just get carried away with it.

I guess some people just not intelligent enough (or plain stupid) to realize that they have to respect someone else's privacy, even if that "someone else" has YT channel.

Re: What happened to "Cheeky Monkey"

FWIW we experienced the "uninvited boarding" phenomenon. We chartered a brand-new Leopard 39 when they first came out. We were anchored at Espiritu Santo out of La Paz.

An older couple dingied over and as they were tying up the dingy to our boat and stepping aboard they asked "ok to come aboard?" Before we knew it we were showing them the boat. Honestly, they turned out to be kind of a kick to meet and talk to. They were thinking of buying one, which was their motivation. They didn't stay long, so it wasn't that big a deal. We thought the whole thing was kind of funny.

So the earlier comment about the newness of the boat might have something to do with it. I think their boat was the first year for the Helia. And some folks are just very outgoing. Lots of sailors have a strong sense of privacy - but some don't.

Apparently so and I would venture to say fellow sailors would be happy to welcome fellow cruisers aboard.... particularly those that might bring some spirits or other gifts

Tasha is back on a boat sailing around the Caribbean... she's likely in Cuba now. Don't know if she will be making any videos, but her Turf to Surf facebook is active.

Is it possible to be any more calculating? The people that post this study are after page views- indiscriminating page views. That means sex. Tattoos. Low cut blouses. Etc Etc.

It the accents that give it away. Look at me. If you aren't Australian, you'll won't understand.
