Re: Wharram Narai MK lV .

Just a little bit. I have reinforced and glassed four more beam troughs. The beam locator pads are all fabbed waiting for glueing and screwing. All the gunnels have been restored.
I have removed all the old windows .
At the moment i am busy figuring out how i am gonna attach the net beam .
It's been hot and humid here with the promise of 300mm of rain. So i have been sealing up any exposed ply as well as pulling a tarp over her.

Re: Wharram Narai MK lV .

Really enjoying this thread, my first multi sail was on a 46' Oro back in the 1970's. I later co-owned a 27' Tane.

Classic Wharrams are beautiful boats.

Salti, are you around that area where the boatyard and the Fusion assembly spot are/were? The river shot looked familiar. Next time I pop down to Mackay I'd love to drop in for a look. No stupid questions, I promise.

What I really like about what your doing (I've done it) is the satisfaction you get, and it doesn't have to be perfect like a modern white shiny boat.

Spot on mate. They are forgiving boats in a lot of ways.

Re: Wharram Narai MK lV .

On any part where hardware goes through wood it is a good idea to overbore the hole, fill with thickened epoxy then drill to size for the bolt/insert etc after it hardens... No water getting through that way. If the inserts are to be bonded in place rough up the outside before coating.

Re: Wharram Narai MK lV .

I had the pleasure of being onboard Rapa Nui. A Wharram Tahini with some pedigree.

Re: Wharram Narai MK lV .

I saw Rapa Nui in Airlie, crab claw works well on a reach, she was shifting!

In the late 70s I spent a week rafted up outside the Klaar family's big junk in Durban harbour. Their bloody terrier attacked us every time we crossed their deck. Not your average family......
