Re: Trimaran with damaged ama/outrigger question?

The whole Vaka Aka Ama thing is Polynesian, another language, I speak English so I say main hull crossbeam and float. Which to me makes way more sense, just type it and see what spellcheck understands.
I realise the Polynesian terminology is trendy in America, you go for it, but I won’t be joining in.

Yeah, that terminology is for outrigger canoes, not trimarans.

I wouldn't use float maybe outer hull. The nice thing about using ama, it somewhat differentiates between hull and float and is common usage specific to tris in the US if not elsewhere. It is probably not exactly correct if in Polynesia.

You might spellcheck “ realise” if you are using English.

Where I’m from, in the U.S., it’s float, crossbeams, and main hull. Ama, aka , vaka is for outrigger canoes. But, it is a work of fiction, and I’d say the older style, hippie built tris tend to go Polynesian terminology, but not so on modern tris. Take your pick.

Capt,
Did you have to google realise to know what I meant ?
No.
Using z is American spelling, in English it’s realise.
