St. Pete FL area - Decent priced marina for Catamaran

Hello one and all,

Needing a decently priced marina for live-aboard marina for our Lagoon 400 (LOA=40" Beam=24') for months of Jan. and Feb of 2018.
Been looking at Active Captain, but there is so many marina's and you have to look at each and everyone to determine if they can handle a cat on the t-head or slip and if live-aboard is accepted during those two months while we practice our skills before heading back around FL and up the ICW.

Ideal location, would allow parking of vehicle, pet friendly, (yep got big old dog) and have basic services of electric, water, showers and laundry.
Many I have checked into are over 1k per month and simply out of our budget..

Any local knowledge of the area that could point me to a few locations, (names) would be greatly appreciated and shorten my search.

Thanks for any input, while I continue my time consuming search through Active Captain.

Problem is your 24ft beam. Tampa St Pete area just does not build slips that wide so cat slips are scarce. 1 K a month isn't bad -South Florida is far worse. Try those marinas in Bradenton which are on south Tampa Bay

Yeah, good luck with a cat slip for under $1000/month in St. Petersburg. The Harborage Marina is the only marina with floating docks and allowing liveaboards, but you're going to be over $1000/month. They are about to open the newly refurbished Maximo Marina, which was acquired by IGY Marinas. I don't know anything about their slips but it might be worth checking out.

As mentioned, you're probably going to have a difficult time finding a spot.

A few months ago I sold my waterfront property and I needed to find a marina. This is what I ran into:

St Petersburg Municipal = full with waiting list
Harborage Marina = full with waiting list
Gulfport Municipal Marina = full
Twin Dolphin Marina = undergoing renovations, not taking new tenants
Regatta Pointe Marina = had a few slips, still going to be close to $1000.00

Regatta Pointe might be your best hope, as they have a lot of catamarans.

Also, you might not want to use the term "liveaboard". You will get treated like a red headed step child.....

You should call yourself a transient, that would like to stay in our beautiful area for a couple months........

Since you're only looking for two months dockage, being a "liveaboard" shouldn't even matter. That's still transient dockage

Check out St Pete or Sarasota mooring fields. Much less if you don't need to be tied to a dock and plugged in. And you won't need air conditioning in Jan and Feb.

Try Pasadena Marina, don't have my boat there anymore, but really enjoyed being there, great facility, clean restrooms, free ice, washer dryers, and a nice pool. Have seen cats in there before. call (727) 343-4500.

2nd this suggestion. I recently, two weeks ago, contacted them for our 42 Leopard and they had space. Lovely marina with everything you asked for, except I don't know about the dog..

Oh, and you did ask for $1K or less, I somehow doubt that. Seems to me our quote was around $1,200.00 or so, but I could be wrong.

You are a transient or snowbird, never call yourself, or admit to being, a liveaboard!

For just two winter months, and if you have a tender, consider the mooring field in St. Pete. Reasonably priced, and located central to everything.
